About Heidi Picard: Luxury Real Estate in Chicago, Southwest Michigan & Northwest Indiana

INTRO

Before I ever showed a house, I understood markets. My background was in corporate sales and market research — I was a consistent top producer, and I learned early that data and people are inseparable. Numbers tell you what's happening. People tell you why it matters. That combination is still at the core of how I work.

My path into real estate wasn't a pivot so much as an evolution. I had already been building a personal portfolio — buying single family homes, rehabbing them, renting them, and eventually flipping them. I understood what it took to transform a property, not just sell one. When I moved into real estate sales, everything came together: the market instincts, the negotiating skills, and the hands-on knowledge that most agents simply don't have.

That was in 2004. Since then I've built a practice that spans three states, serves three distinct markets, and runs almost entirely on referrals — because when you do right by your clients, they send you the people they care about most.

THE MARKETS

I specialize in luxury real estate across three connected worlds on and around Lake Michigan: Chicagoland's top neighborhoods, Southwest Michigan's Harbor Country, and Northwest Indiana's lakefront communities. I know these markets not because I studied them, but because I've lived them.

I've lived all over Chicagoland, explored the neighborhoods firsthand, and built relationships in the communities I serve. A second home in Union Pier expanded my footprint into Harbor Country — a vacation lifestyle only an hour from the city that I fell in love with and have been selling ever since. That kind of firsthand knowledge isn't something you can manufacture.

HOW I WORK

I am direct, easy to work with, and I get results. My clients describe me as highly responsive, deeply knowledgeable, and assertive when it counts. I identify issues others miss, negotiate hard on their behalf, and make a complex process feel seamless. I've also been told more than once that working with me is actually fun.

Before I show a single property or make a single recommendation, I listen. Skipping that step wastes everyone's time. When you understand what a client truly needs — sometimes before they can fully articulate it themselves — everything that follows becomes more focused, more efficient, and more successful.

The words that come up again and again in my client reviews are responsive, knowledgeable, professional, honest, and assertive negotiator. Sellers report getting far more than they expected. Buyers say I found what they were looking for, sometimes before they knew exactly what that was.

RECOGNITION

Consistency is what I'm most proud of. Real estate has highs and lows. Markets shift, deals fall apart, and the unexpected is always around the corner. What separates a great agent from an average one is showing up with the same level of focus and commitment regardless of what the market is doing.

BEYOND THE TRANSACTION

I'm actively involved with Habitat for Humanity Women Build. Real estate is a women-driven industry, and I'm fortunate to work alongside so many talented women every day. Women Build focuses on providing housing for single mothers who are working every day for their families — and I can't think of a more deserving cause given the work I do. Home is everything.

When I'm not working, I'm competitive, creative, and always up for a challenge — which explains a lot about how I work and how I play. I love getting outside, trying any sport of the day. If I'm inside, I'm cooking for the people I care about. It's my love language.

I got into this business because I love people. What I do is deeply personal — I get to witness the moments that matter most in people's lives. I tell my clients the same thing every time we close: we are not breaking up.
